Solo rules

CPU Mode

A CPU is a Legend without a player, whose Actions are chosen by a Behavior deck. You can replace any number of human players in your game with CPUs, allowing you to play solo, co-op, or fill out uneven teams.

CPUs are not recommended when using Arena Variants.

Setup

Set up a CPU player just like a human, with the following exceptions:

  • Shuffle the CPU cards for its Legend to form its Behavior deck. Choose Easy or Hard difficulty.
  • It doesn’t have a Meter, and instead:
    • It always has all of its Special cards available (they are never discarded).
    • It draws its Ultimate at the start of sequence 4.

Gameplay

If you have any CPUs on your team, perform the following steps secretly for each of those CPUs before your select your Action cards (you get to see what they are doing before you make your picks). Otherwise, after all human players have made their Action stack for a Sequence, for each CPU:

  • Draw the top card of the CPU’s Behavior deck.
  • Reading from left to right, find the column with the first condition that’s true.
  • Make an Action stack for the CPU out of the cards listed in that column, according to your difficulty ( Easy or Hard ), such that they’ll resolve in the order listed.

(“Distance” is the number of spaces to the nearest opposing Legend. The CPU’s own space is 0.)

Example CPU card

Example: Easy Zephyr draws ‘Dodge and Roll.’ If there’s an opposing Legend in her space, she’ll use Back > Defensive Pivot > Ride the Barrel; otherwise, she’ll use Defensive Pivot > Back > Shot.

End of Sequence

After the end of every sequence, shuffle each CPU’s Behavior discard pile (if any) back into its deck. Then, place the CPU card in the Behavior discard pile.

A CPU’s Ultimate is removed from the game after use, just like a human player.

CPU Plans

If you encounter an ambiguous situation for the CPU, refer to the Plan on the back of its Behavior cards to break ties. Think like a player when making choices for the CPU!

Example plan

A CPU considers all face-up cards as well as all cards they and their allies have picked. If they achieve their first priority they will attempt their second, and so on. If there is still a tie in priorities, the human allies of the CPU decide. If there are none, the player who most recently resolved an Action decides.
